Navagraha
Rahu is the shadow graha, the one without a body. Tradition places it with the unconventional, the sudden, the thing not yet named. Rahu's ratna is gomed. Its uparatna is smoky quartz — clear stone, darkened by the earth itself.
Shani is Saturn — the slowest graha, keeper of time and discipline. Shani's ratna is the blue sapphire, the stone tradition treats with the most caution. Its uparatna is amethyst: even violet, undyed. The colour of patience.
Budh is Mercury — the graha of intellect, exchange and the spoken word. Budh's ratna is the emerald. Its uparatna is green aventurine: soft green, undyed, quiet.
Shukra is Venus — the graha of art, beauty and devotion. Shukra's ratna is the diamond. Its uparatna is clear quartz: no colour, all clarity. The stone that holds nothing back.
Chandra is the Moon. Tradition gives it charge of the mind — memory, mood, the quiet interior. Chandra's ratna is the pearl. Its uparatna is moonstone, which hides a blue flash inside white and shows it only in movement. Cool to the touch, always.
Guru is Brihaspati — teacher of the gods, the graha of expansion and counsel. Guru's ratna is the yellow sapphire. Its uparatna is citrine: golden, warm, unmistakable against the skin.
Surya is the Sun — in Vedic tradition the graha of the self, the one light that borrows from nothing. Surya's ratna is the ruby, a stone kept for kings. Its uparatna is red garnet: the same fire, made wearable. Deep red. Worn at the wrist, closest to the pulse.
Ketu is the second shadow graha, the headless one. Tradition places it with detachment and the inner search. Ketu's ratna is the cat's eye. Its uparatna is labradorite: grey until it catches light, then blue.
Mangal is Mars — the graha of fire, action and courage. Mangal's ratna is red coral. Its uparatna is carnelian: burnt orange, warmed through. Worn by those who move first.
